Curriculum |

Children from birth to two-years-old will be encouraged in their physical development through activities that develop the child’s gross motor skills. Mental development will be challenged through the repetition of learning colors, simple counting, and listening to stories, songs and nursery rhymes. Acceptable social interaction with other children and adults is encouraged and cognitive development, such as memory, thinking, reasoning and language development is begun. Beginning in the two year old class the A Beka Curriculum is used. This is a phonics-based curriculum that lays a solid foundation for the beginning of reading. Letter and number recognition, counting, listening skills, eye-hand coordination, gross and fine motor skills and the following of directions are all an important part of this curriculum. Also emphasized are Bible lessons, socialization skills, character building, music, poetry and language skills. This curriculum gives children an enjoyable educational foundation and a desire to learn more. |

Field Trips |

Age appropriate field trips may be scheduled at any time and notices will be given. Occasionally, something unexpected may turn up and a short notice will be given in order to not miss an important opportunity for your child. When you enroll your child in SECA Day Care, you are granting permission for your child to go on such trips and agree that you will not hold SECA Day Care or its staff responsible for accidents or injury to your child. (This policy applies mainly to the children enrolled in Summer Camp activities). |

Discipline |

SECA Day Care’s desire is to train the children to live above reproach, show respect for God, country, family, teachers and fellow classmates. It is the goal of both administration and teachers to stay in close communication with parents and work together as partners in this process. Praise and reward to reinforce good behavior, short separation from the group and “time out” to discourage inappropriate behavior are the preferred discipline practices of SECA Day Care. The teacher in each respective classroom will deal with minor infractions of individual rules. Repeated violations will be brought to the attention of the parents and the administration and further consequences for these violations may be necessary, including but not limited to, suspension or expulsion. |
